Outdoor Action show 19th and 20th June 2010

This years Outdoor Action show took place at the White Water centre at the Cardiff Bay.

The coarse fishing proved to be the most popular attraction.

The face of concentration

Even the girls took it seriously.

All the youngsters caught fish

And the effort paid off.

As you can see from all the pictures it turned out to be a great two days with over 70 children and adults taking up the offer of the 1 hour taster sessions, the main fish caught were Rudd and some good size fish close to 1 lb came to the nets.

The weather could not have been better with wall to wall sunshine for the two days.

Cardiff Bay, June 19th, 20th and 21st 2009.

The Cardiff Bay Outdoor Action show took place on the 19th, 20th and 21st June, the added attraction this year was the chance to try the fishing in the bay from a floating pontoon supplied by the harbour authority.  All that queued for a place for the fishing were delighted with over 300 fish caught during the event.  The Federation of Welsh Anglers coaches present were all working overtime to keep up with the demand for the angling places available.
Mothers, fathers and there children had a whale of a time catching fish (pardon the pun) and to cap it all off the participants in the angling were rewarded with Roach up to 1 ½ lbs along with Chubb Rudd Skimmer Bream and Mullet up to 2 ½ lbs all these fish were in prime condition and all fought hard as most fish had never been caught before.   During the event we saw in excess of 120 potential anglers try there hand at angling some for the first time, and not one angler went away disappointed
as all that tried it caught fish some with a grin larger than others.

Sea anling coaches were also prominent, providing demonsartions on rig-making, giving advice and information on the best fishing marks and reinforcing their expertise and advice with some excellent instructional DVDs on sea fishing for visitors to view.

Another new demonstration that drew in the visitors this year was the fly tying which was again demonstrated by FWA coaches to a very high standard.  The colours and materials that were on display were really something to be believed, and although they made it look easy the anglers who tried it soon realised that like all skills there is a right way and a wrong way to do it but with assistance from the coaches they were soon making their own flies.
Cardiff City Council, through the Harbour Authority, will shortly be opening the Bay for fishing to the public, we’ll let you know when and where to get your permits from. Early signs are that anglers could be in for a bonanza, with a big head of coarse fish and a few sea species like mullet and flat fish showing in some numbers. There are even some trout and grayling to add that extra interest.
