Liberal Democrats go fishing ! When the Federation of Welsh Anglers were invited to put on a show at the Sennedd at Cardiff Bay last year it was met with great interest from all parties in particular the Liberal Democrats, Kirsty Williams the Welsh Liberal Democrat leader expressed an interest in having a go herself as she had never picked up a fishing rod in her life and wanted to know first hand what the attraction was in this sport. The proof of the pudding is in the eating and she made a point of keeping her promise in May 2010 as you can sees from the pictures below.

These photos are of a Group called Melin Homes. We MTAA have worked with them for many years and they are a fantasic Group who take out children over the School holidays and half term on outdoor and indoor recreational projects. All the children are very well behaved and they all ask to come back again. We introduced then to fishing for two days and those who could came back the second time. |

Coarse Angling. If you’re already into coarse fishing, or want to learn the ropes, Wales is the place to try. Nowhere in the world are you likely to find so much variety of first-class angling packed into such a small country. Just about all species are present, from Gudgeon to big hard-fighting Barbel to specimen Carp and Pike. Even a long holiday isn’t enough to sample everything, so unless you intend to specialise, there could be a problem of what tackle to bring along. |

Members of Pendre Youth Group, who spent a very wet day at Cyfartha Park in Merthyr sampling the delights of coarse angling. Although they all got drenched they all enjoyed the experience and staid the Course. |
