Coaching day on Penarth Barrage
Sat 23rd May 2010

Sea Angling on the barrage is a great way to learn valuable skills in a very safe environment away from the big tides and hassle of the beaches!
Aberkenfig and Bettws Boys and Girls Clubs have been very pro active in ensuring all the youngsters are given a chance to sample something a little different by purchasing some quality fishing tackle and getting in touch with the Welsh Federation of Sea Anglers/Federation of Welsh Anglers.
Having worked with the clubs for a few years now the enthusiasm never seems to dry up, every youngster that attends and catches their first fish seems to get hooked for life, which is great!
As you can see from the photos these youngsters really know how to catch fish which makes it so much easier for the coaching team which is made up of Gareth Davies (Bridgend) Mike Dixon (Cardiff) and Paul Thomas (Penarth) and team leaders Paz (Bettws) and Dave Muckell (Aberkenfig).
Bait for the day was sponsored by Tizer tackle of Llanharan, Bridgend who have been fantastic in helping out our sessions over the past few years, with out their help and first class baits the days wouldn’t be the same.
The Welsh Federation of Sea Anglers has always pushed best practise when it comes to Angling skills, conservation and National Team participation World wide, without these valuable sessions the stars of tomorrow may never get a chance to show what they can do.
Stephanie Muckell of the Aberkenfig Boys and Girls club showed the lads how to bait up, cast and handle fish like a pro, to say the coaching team was impressed is an understatement, we think she has the ability to go on and possibley fish for Wales one day.
Coaching days can be booked through Gareth Davies (WFSA Coaching & development Officer) on 07855528845 / 01656 724550.
All our coaches are qualified and hold first aid certification with enhanced CRB checks also carried out and all venues are Risk Assessed.

Just look at the smile on this young lads face.
Children are always keen to learn how to do it.
